The Next Generation of Timing & Frequency

ULN-450

The ULN-450 and ULN-450A Ultra Low Noise 100MHz Crystal Oscillator References are designed to provide numerous ultra-low-phase noise 100MHz sine wave and LVDS outputs with very high accuracy and stability. Allan Deviations of less than 7 parts per trillion at averaging times of 1 second to 10 seconds, and phase noise floors of -163dBc/Hz are typical (ULN-450 DOCXO version). The ULN-450/A modules include microprocessor control for aging and tempco correction of the crystals, very low noise internal power supply regulators, and optional 1PPS and 10MHz inputs for disciplining to an external source such as a noisy Rubidium oscillator, or GPS receivers.

The ULN-450/A modules support an English-language SCPI (GPIB) interface for status, control, and monitoring, and also contain TTL LOCK/ALARM status indicators, and a user-selectable TTL or RS-232 level serial interface.

The ULN-450 module contains a double oven (DOCXO) 10MHz crystal oscillator with low-g sensitivity option to provide high Allan Deviation performance and low tilt sensitivity, and a 100MHz low-g ultra low phase noise crystal to generate a 100MHz output with typically -120dBc/Hz at 100Hz offset, and a typical noise floor of -163dBc/Hz. The 100MHz crystal is phase locked to the 10MHz OCXO, and the 10MHz OCXO can be disciplined by an optional external 1PPS or 10MHz reference.

The ULN-450A modules are lower-cost single oven and VCXO based versions for cost-sensitive applications. The ULN-450A module also has a slightly lower mechanical height (0.66 inches total height versus 0.93 inches total height) for mechanically tight applications such as VME rack use.

The ULN-450 and 450A units contain 4x 100MHz Sine Wave outputs, one LVDS 100MHz output, as well as oneLVDS 1PPS output and input. The ULN-450 unit is available with various options such as military temperature range and ruggedization, and suits applications such as Radar, Satcom, Radio, Telecom, and Testequipment.
